How to Slipcover A Sectional

Happy Monday lovely blog readers! I am so excited about today’s post because I feel like this is something I have been wanting to do for a long time! I am sharing how to freshen up your old sectional and make it look like a brand new piece-and boy did it turn out well. I partnered with my friends over at Comfort Works to make my sectional dreams come true and believe me when I say I couldn’t be more pleased with the quality of our new slipcovers and also the whole experience!

So let’s back track a bit shall we? I got this sectional a couple of years ago now and the kids have loved on it hard and it’s held up great. It has a classic shape, modern lines and is just a really beautiful  piece. So when the fabric started to pill I was a little bummed because it was making the sectional look more worn then it really was. I mean sure, I used the de-piller once a month and it worked great but all and all I just didn’t want to have to do that you know? I just wanted the fabric to look great all the time insert- Comfort Works. They do custom slip covers for so many big box stores and also take on covering custom pieces which is what we did in my situation. If you have a furniture item from a popular big box store and you are looking to freshen it up, head to their website and they have all the models listed that they do covers for.

So let’s talk about the custom process because that is after all, what I did! I was so surprised with how smooth the process went and they really have everything so organized. To start you order your fabric samples and they get sent right to your door so you can see them in your home and decide which one will be the best fit for you and your space. I am a big fan of this because seeing and touching the samples really makes a big difference. It’s also nice to see how the colours look in your own home with your own lighting. Next I was sent a couple of forms that had my sectional shape on them with all the measurements I needed to take, it was great because everything was labelled which helped ensure I got exactly the right spots measured. Because the team at Comfort Works is so skilled in this trade they were able to check over my measurements and let me know if there were any areas of concern to help ensure we got the best fit possible!

The cover arrived within a couple of weeks and I was dying to get it on you guys, DYIING. I decided to go with a soft, mid toned grey and it looks stunning in the space. It provides just enough contrast against the white walls which I love, and I find it really brings a lot more depth to the room. I also elected to have my cover come right to the ground to give that casual, farmhouse feel and I love how inviting it looks. Another great thing about slipcovers is that you can take them off and wash them if a child snack disaster strikes, however make sure you never put them in the dryer 🙂

I still can’t get over this transformation, it has made our sectional look and feel like brand new piece of furniture without actually going and buying a new item! If you have any furniture item that you are finding looks tired and you want to give it a whole new look without the investment of replacing it I highly suggest checking out Comfort Works, you won’t be disappointed.

Kind thoughts,

Lauren Elizabeth
