Shop Your House- Part 3 DIY Nightstand Hack

In today’s Shop Your Home segment I wanted to talk about jazzing up an existing piece of furniture. Now there are lots of ways you can spruce up a piece you already own by changing out the hardware on it or painting it a new colour. I have been loving the marble trend, I mean of course it’s white and if you have been following me for awhile you know I love everything white and bright. So when I got some marble contact paper back awhile ago for this bar cart project here I knew I wanted to cover the tops of our nightstand’s with it as well.

Enter the Ikea Hemnes nightstand, it’s a great little piece but we have had them for awhile and I was wanting a change (surprise surprise) so I decided to cover the top with the contact paper. Guys, it turned out so great and is such a fun and pretty switch up! It really glams them up a bit which I love and gives them a whole new feel. But at the same time if I change my mind again it’s easily reversible by just peeling off the paper. I am still on the hunt for the perfect little brass knob to go on them,  it seems every one that I like is either out of stock or doesn’t ship to Canada, so alas the search continues (I will do an update and let you guys know what I end up putting on them). The contact paper was a little tricky to apply on the edges but the key is to just go slow with it and use a card to press out the paper as you unroll it so everything goes on smooth.

Hope you guys give this simple project try and have a great day!

Kind thoughts,

Lauren Elizabeth
